2025-2026 Virginia Thespian Officers

The Virginia Thespian Officers (VTOs) are comprised of State Thespian Officers (STOs), whose responsibilities span throughout the whole state, and Regional Thespian Officers (RTOs), whose primary focus is the schools within their region. Please welcome the 2025-2026 officers for the Commonwealth of Virginia!

If you are interested in applying to be an officer for the 2026-2027 school year, be sure to attend the VTO Workshop at Festival this year! Applications will open late winter / early spring 2026.

Thank you to our 2025-26 Officers this year!

HOW DO I BECOME A VTO (STO or RTO)?

Eligibility:
Students who have attended the previous school year's conference and participated in either an interest meeting with the VTO Board or a leadership workshop with the visiting International Thespian Officer are eligible to apply. In order to apply, a student must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a rising junior or senior for the upcoming school year.
  • Attend a school with an active ITS Troupe.
  • Indicate support from their director for their involvement. (The Troupe Director must also agree to actively serve on the VA Thespian Adult Board.)
  • Commit to attending a minimum of 2 meetings a year as well as the VA Thespian Festival. If a student misses more than one meeting, he or she may lose his or her position on State Leadership. Sometimes virtual (online) meetings will suffice.
  • Have participated in leadership training as administered by the current STO Board (when applicable).

Candidate Election Process (2024-2025):
  1. The link to the application will be available on the vathespian.org website.
  2. Candidates must submit their application by the appointed deadline via Google Form (2023-24 questions).
2024-25 Application Due 3/1
