NEW- VTF College Intern Program
Virginia Thespians is pleased to announce the new College Intern Program providing hands-on professional experience for college students during our annual 3-day educational conference serving over 1200 student thespians from across the state of Virginia.
At this time, these are unpaid internships but, you will receive hours towards credits, service hours, and/or work experience with professionals in the field. Virginia Thespians, as an organization, are exploring options for financial assistance/ stipends in the future to try to make this accessible to all.

FOUR TRACKS TO CHOOSE FROM:
- Technical
- Work with Capital One Staff alongside our VTF technical board members to assist with load-in, load-out, and other needs for main stage, ceremonies and one-act events. May also assist with the middle school one-act competition at Hilton.
- Interns with special areas of focus may be engaged in specialized work including stage management, lighting or sound.
- Performing (limited based on guest artist workshop needs)
- Shadow one or more guest artists
- Assist with workshops (dance workshops in particular)
- Learn about what it takes to be a teaching artist as supplemental employment.
- One-on-one networking with an industry professional
- Theatre Admin
- Shadow VTF board members and staff to learn ins/outs of non-profit event planning
- May work behind the scenes or on-site at festival depending on the needs of the student and the VTF administrative position they are assisting.
- Photography, media, marketing, event planning and customer service are possible focus areas
- Education
- Must have a faculty supervisor or Teacher/VTF Sponsor who will review lesson plans and provide feedback.
- May be enrolled in a teacher-training program
- Would teach or co-teach one or more workshops or run on-site events or activity stations
INFORMATION FOR COLLEGES:
Colleges can support student interns in a variety of ways depending on the goals of your program. These might include:
- Letting students know about the opportunity
- Offering volunteer or practicum credit for participation
- Alpha Psi Omega, Delta Psi Omega, or other fraternal organization chapters may provide volunteer hours
- Sponsoring travel or lodging for the event
INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE INTERNS:
- All 2025 College Intern Positions are unpaid.
- On-site Internships begin Wednesday, January 8, 2025 - Saturday, January 11, 2025
- Limited Off-site administrative internships are available for those who can not travel
