What is Broadway Backwards: Broadway Backwards is a yearly event that benefits our new "Send A Troupe to VTF" Grant. This event puts a twist on male and female character songs from Broadway and off-Broadway shows. For Example: (An all male "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago or a group of women singing "Hello!" from Book of Mormon) If you need visual- search for it on Youtube! You'll find tons of great examples.
How to raise money for broadway backwards: The donations for Broadway Backwards will work the same way as the Womanless Beauty Pageant. Buckets will be placed out for each contestant and throughout the performance people can put donations in for the performance of their choice. We will announce the performance that raised the most funds at the end of conference.
Rules: You can bring up to six performances per school. There is a maximum of 5 minutes per performance. Please limit obscenity and cursing. Instrumental backtracks will need to be provided via cd/phone. Group and solo songs are allowed. You must provide your own costume and props. Lighting is limited to lights up/ lights down and mood (warm, cool, etc). The songs that you are going to perform must be songs that you would perform for an Individual Event provided you were that gender.
