First, check the conference information page. It will have all of the details about the site, directions, and hotel information. If you need further information about the conference, or want to talk about what conference can do for you, start with an e-mail to VAThespian@aol.com. I can e-mail you with information, or if you send me your phone number, I'll be glad to call you.
After you've made the wise ;-) decision to join us at the conference, you need to go to the Forms page. There, you will find the registration instructions which will give you all of the information you need about registration costs and deadlines as well as the registration process itself. Read it through carefully. Once again, if you have any questions, e-mail me.
Conference Site Forms and Info - This section of the Forms page has several items of interest.1. Security Information - This page gives some basic information on our security arrangements.
2. Guidelines for Sponsors - This page gives you our conference guidelines for participation and security at the conference. We ask that you sign and send this page with your registration payment.
3. Conference Rules for Students - This page should be printed and distributed to your students. One copy of this form from each student should be turned at the registration desk at the conference when you arrive.
4. Workshop List - This page lists all of the workshops available at the conference. We leave last year's list up until the new one is available so that you and your students can at least know what kind of workshops to expect even when we don't have specifics about the current year yet.
5. Medical Form - You may use our form, or your own school system's form. In either case, you should have an emergency care form for each student attending the conference.
6. Alumni Host Nomination Form - We know how much your students have loved coming to the conference and we want to give an opportunity for our alumni to be with us again. Only high school students can attend the conference, but your graduates are welcome to help with running the conference.
7. State Student Officer Nomination Form - We want lots of students involved in the planning and running of the conference. After all, it's their conference, right? We encourage you and your students to get involved with the process.
8. Thespian Boutique - The Thespian Boutique is your best source for Thespian Gear as well as other items which are exclusively available at the Virginia State Thespian Conference. Let your students know it's available so that they can come prepared.
1. One-Act / Mainstage Form - We would like as many productions at the conference as we can fit. You can direct a One-Act, have a student direct a One-Act, or go for it all and bring a full-length Mainstage production.
2. Individual Events - Individual Events run the gamut of performance from solo, duet, trio, to small group, musical, and dance as well as a chance to show off your tech. If you want to take students in Individual Events to the International Thespian Conference, they need to be vetted at the State Conference.
1. College Auditions - These auditions are primarily focused on Juniors and serve to let the students have an opportunity to go through the audition process as well as give our college folks a chance to check out the new crop of talent coming toward them. Please encourage your students to audition for the colleges even if they haven't made up their minds about what they want yet. The experience is always worthwhile and you never know what might happen.
2. Scholarship Auditions - These auditions are open to Senior Thespians only. It's a chance for a deserving student to get some money for college. Please have your students review the requirements carefully and make sure they are following the instructions. Unfortunately, we have had some students disqualified for not having the packet done correctly.
